Interpersonal Communication Project (100 points)

Inspired by our readings and aimed at improving our Interpersonal Communication, you will complete a project following the steps listed below:

A. Choose a concept in the communication process.
Choose only one concept to focus on.
Possible communication concepts include, but are not limited to:
Role of self-concept in communication
Importance of forming accurate perceptions in communication
Verbal communication
Role of conflict and/or power in communication
Role of gender in communication
Influence of culture on communication
Interpersonal competence
Or any other communication concept you find of interest! Look back over our semester for ideas,
Narrow down your topic to a manageable size.
Focus on one concept that we have explored in Interpersonal Communication.

B. Research the communication concept which will be the focus of your project.
Using 3 sources (besides your textbook) research the concept and how it seems to apply to interpersonal communication.
Sources may include journals, magazines, books, newspapers and credible internet sources (No Wikipedia).
Source citations will be cited in your project using the MLA format. You should handle them using the same rules you would for a paper. Create an in-text citation within the sentence or bullet point on your slide. Your Works Cited page will be on your last slide. Here is an example of how that looks: MLA Powerpoint Example by Haidee Kowal
The use of easybib.com to format the Works Cited page in MLA format is highly encouraged.
This is not your opinion, but rather a review of information that increases your knowledge and understanding of the concept.
Your presentation must include either a statistical comparison or graph
Your presentation must include a link to an article, survey, or activity that will be of interest to your classmates.
The goal is to learn more about the topic of interest.

C. Prepare a Power Point presentation.
Based on your research, prepare a 15-20 slide presentation.
Presentation should summarize the major findings of the research.
Slides should include the citation of sources when they are used (as seen in slide 1 of example provided above.)
Presentation should include an explanation of the statistical comparison/graph used.
Presentations must include an explanation of link to an article, survey, or activity that will be of interest to your classmates.
Presentation must include a “Works Cited” slide, which will not count toward the 15-20 slide requirement. (Slide 2 in example.)
Your presentation may be made available to your classmates, therefore, you should think carefully about how to make the ideas you learn useful to them. Make it interesting and educational. Make it attractive.
