For the final project, you are required to arrange an interview with a human resources manager of a local, state, or federal agency or a non-profit organization).

Ask the following questions and report the answers in memo format, approximately 5 pages, 12-point font, Times
New Roman, single-spaced, 1-inch margins. Be sure to include the interviewee’s name, title, and place of employment in the memo header (if the individual is not comfortable being identified, you can list their name as “anonymous”).

Here are the interview questions:
1. Describe your position title and job. What are your primary Human Resource Management responsibilities? Duration of position?
2. How and why did you get into human resources management?
3. How would you describe the purpose of the profession and mission of human resources?
4. Ask for one example of a human resources management success (i.e. this could be in any of the HRM functions recruitment, hiring, retention, promotion, etc.) Why is human resources management important for success in your organization?
5. Ask for a specific example of organizational success. What was improved, changed, and/or implemented, by how much and for how long? Did the organizational leaders know about the human resources strategic contribution to this larger organizational success?
6. What aspects of your work in human resources provide professional gratification? Why/how?
7. What are the top 2-3 human resources challenges, liabilities and/or concerns that you currently face?
8. What can organizational decision-makers do to reduce those concerns and/or liabilities? 9. What
is your advice to organizational decision-makers for enhancing employee engagement and productivity?
10. Ask how these values influence human resources management: diversity, equity, inclusion, integrity, ethical conduct, efficiency, effectiveness, and/or professionalism (discuss 2 with your
interviewee in greater detail). How and why are these values important? Ask for examples in practice (real or hypothetical).
