Analysis Paper 1 Guidelines (150 Points)
You are to select a film and provide an analysis of 1 or more character’s journey of their
development of their self-concept. The focus of this assignment is not for you to give me a
detailed synopsis of the plot or a scene-by-scene account of what happens to the main character.
You should critically analyze the character(s) journey throughout the story and weave together
the concepts that we’ve discussed in class and are available in the textbook.

A strong paper will
provide insight into a character that is not obvious or surface-level; it will critique the nuances
and subtleties in the character’s journey to learning more about their self-discovery. Focus on the
concepts that we discussed in class and that you’ve read in the text. You should provide specifics
(character names, brief scene descriptions) so that someone who has not seen the film could
easily digest your analysis.
Your paper should consist of at least 3 pages of content and adhere to the formatting
requirements on the syllabus. Please set up your analysis as follows:
