Note: In thinking about authenticity, many approach learning as a way to shrink the knowledge gap. To become knowers is the quest of learning. However, here Peter Senge suggests we become learners and not knowers. The approach therefore is to expand the knowledge gap. In other words expand the space of the unknown—create an intentional space for breakthrough learning—a place between what is known (benchmarking) and what is yet to be known (innovative practices). Breakthrough learning results from the willingness to plunge into the creative chaos of unexplored territory.
