In 1787, after much debate, delegates at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, known as the Framers, Signed the U.S. Constitution, which became the supreme law of the land in the United States. It consists of a preamble, 7 articles, and currently, 27 amendments. John Adams wrote, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
