Engaging with Yoder (Nightbitch), Emezi (Freshwater), or both, analyze how women in the literature must negotiate their security (do they adapt, maladapt, conform, rebel, transform, escape, collaborate, etc.?), and what does their encounter with insecurity reveal about our culture (specifically: gender, economy/class, citizenship, race/intersectionality, age, sexism, “meritocracy”/exploitation, morality, etc.)?
