Guidelines for the Response Paper

After reading the text, write a paper based on your response to a single pertinent theme, perspective, character, metaphor, style, or motif in the text.
• The assignment must be in proper college format (refer to Formatting & Citation Resources).
• The first person perspective may be used sparingly, but phrases such as I think; I believe’ should be avoided. Avoid second person references too.
• Formal essay style and grammatical conventions should be used. Avoid contractions, and be sure to refer to writers by their last names or full names (never first name alone).
• Include a single brief reference with page number from the text in MLA format.
• The response papers cannot be based on a summary of the text.
• The response papers cannot be comparative.
• No secondary research required; however, if any secondary sources are used, they must be cited. To avoid plagiarism, you need to appropriately cite and credit all the portions of any electronic or print sources you employ within your own written works. Please ask me if you have any questions about citation or quoting references.
• Include a Works Cited page (this will be the last, separate page) containing the primary text and any secondary sources used within the response paper.
• To avoid any confusion, if Grammarly, ChatGPT, Gemini, Quillbot, etc., are used for corrections and prompts, submit 2 drafts of your Report: a draft of the Report before using Al assistance and the final draft of the Report after using AI
