I want to talk about the Black girl experience in the USA and how it hasn’t changed since slavery using books from the class I took. I want you to explain why Black women hate their skin, hair, and how features like our body are over sexualized by White men (slave owners). I want you to use text from books the book Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs, The Long Song Novel by Andrea Levy, and Homegoing Novel by Yaa Gyasi (the last book could be tricky just use one or two examples). You can also talk about colorism and how light-skin the Black girls view themselves in these novel compare and contrast. You can use the essay I have already written to help you.

Here are my professors’ instructions:

• Place your argument within larger social, political, and historical contexts for the feminist revolutionary imagination across the Americas;
• Be solidly researched, with a Works Cited page listing at least 7-10 secondary historical, critical, and/or theoretical sources (ok to use texts from other MA classes);
