Establish Local Domain and Applications

By establishing a baseline to which secure hardening is applied, students will establish a local domain containing three Windows Servers. This securing process will be completed by applying security controls and policies on the domain. Students will use the Azure Labs environment to accomplish this task.

Access the “Company Profiles” located in the Class Resources and select a fictitious company to use for the duration of this course. Create an associated abbreviation for the company (e.g., Across the States Bank [ASB], Lopes Manufacturing [LM], or Pike’s Peak Health Care [PPHC]).

Three virtual Windows Servers will be active in the Azure Labs environment to accomplish this task. Through creating a virtual infrastructure, students will select, design, deploy, integrate, and administer network and communication infrastructures in an organization using in-house and cloud-based solutions.

These systems will be configured to meet the following criteria:
Use the naming scheme, applying the same association established in the assignment “Benchmark – Developing Enterprise Framework for a Security Program” in ITT-430.
Examples include: ‘Across the States Bank (ASB)’: ITT430-ASB1, ITT430-ASB2, ITT-430-ASB3, Domain name CORP.ITT430ASB.COM.

Criterion 1: A Windows Server (Latest Version) (English) Domain Controller with the following services installed (at minimum):
Server Role: Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) – Promote to DC 2. Server Role: DNS Server
Features: Group Policy Management

Criterion 2: A Windows Server (Latest Version) (English) with the following services installed (at minimum):
Add a member server to the domain
Server Role: Web Server
Features: .Net Framework
Role Services: Web Server (IIS) Support

Criterion 3: A Windows Server (Latest Version) (English) with the following services installed (at minimum):
Add as member server to domain 2. Default installation
NOTE: Do not install antivirus software or system updates now.
Capture screenshots of the Active Directory User and Computers tree, including the three servers, and write a 100-250-word explanation of why routing, switching, physical, and transport layers are relevant to the IT discipline.
APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
