Is it morally just or does it compromise the ethics of modern anthropology as stated in the AAA code of Ethics (it ultimately saves American soldiers lives, doesn’t it)?

Discussion Forum 6: Anthropologists in the Military

After reading this week’s article, Army Enlists Anthropology in War Zones, what is your opinion regarding anthropology’s role in the military, particularly in its recruitment and deployment of anthropologists into war zones?

Is it morally just or does it compromise the ethics of modern anthropology as stated in the AAA code of Ethics (it ultimately saves American soldiers lives, doesn’t it)?

Is this professional application of anthropology accepted by the anthropological community at large?

Does the military allow an anthropologist to practice legitimate science/ scientific methods (i.e. are anthropologists allowed to publish or disclose what they learn in the war zone to the greater scientific community)?
