Opportunities and Threats.

This draft is prospective or forward-looking. Your analysis must be grounded in the situation
contemporary to your assigned year). An opportunity is something that can significantly or materially
increase revenues/profits or reduce expenses over the next one (1) to five (5) years. A threat is
something that can significantly or materially reduce revenues or profits or increase expenses over the
next one (1) to five (5) years. This section is grounded in your thorough understanding of the
company, its industry, competitors, and customers in addition to the political, social, and economic
climate of the time.
You must integrate your understanding of what the company says about itself (the annual reports),
with national trends and data (from the Statistical Abstract and the ICC’s Annual Statistics), with the
trove of current information you have gathered from the newspapers, trade journals, financial
publications, and stock/bond prices in secondary markets like the New York Stock Exchange. This
draft is not simply a discussion of the materials from the “40 Articles” assignment.
The draft must be a minimum of one (1) full written page per section (opportunities and threats), and
at least two full pages in total length. You must prepare a full claim per section. Full documentation is
required as well as the normal expectations of grammar, format, and felicity of writing. The page
length requirements do not include footnotes and required charts.
