Review a case of an adolescent depicted in media such as, television shows, movies, or books. These different media works will be selected by the course instructor and students will be asked to select one to review. Students will discuss the adolescent’s history and background information while identifying risk and protective factors. Students will also address the fundamental changes (biological, cognitive, social, etc.) contextual factors (families, peers, schools, work, and leisure etc.) and psychosocial development (identity, intimacy, autonomy, sexuality, achievement, psychosocial problems, etc.) areas of adolescent development discussed in the course as it pertains to the specific individual chosen and observed. Finally, students will recommend services and resources to promote successful development and well-being for the adolescent observed. Students will write an 8-10 page paper discussing this information. Students will use APA guidelines when writing this paper and include at least 5 literary resources from peer reviewed journals or books cited within their document.
