What assumptions did you make about the problem and how to fix it?

POP Guide Assignment
The POP Guides provide insights into problems that police departments have encountered and have addressed. The guides allow agencies to address similar issues in their own communities without having to reinvent the wheel or utilize an approach that has proven ineffective.
For this assignment, you will be completing an online simulation dealing with street-level prostitution in an area of a city. This simulation allows you to dive into the process of identifying a problem and analyzing what needs to be done to solve the problem. This simulation is very well done and will provide an excellent base of knowledge regarding this method of crime prevention/response. The simulation will take 1-2 hours so plan accordingly.
In the first phase of the simulation, you are allotted a “research budget”. It costs units to interview people, access reports, maps, etc. You will not be able to interview everyone or see all of the sources of information. Be deliberate and think critically about what will provide the most value. There is a short quiz to move on to the second half so you must pay attention to what you learn. TAKE NOTES!
In the second half of the simulation, you are given an additional budget to plan a response. Your response options are tied to the information you unlocked in the first half of the simulation. Once you develop a plan, you will submit it to the mayor. You will receive a response from a “year later” describing how your plan worked.
Once completed, write a short essay (2-3 pages) providing a brief synopsis of what you did during the research/analysis stage, your plan of action, and the results provided by the simulation. You will also analyze your own performance.
The essay must also answer these questions:
What worked and what did not? Why?
What did you miss and why?
What might you do differently if you did it a second time?
What assumptions did you make about the problem and how to fix it?
The goal of this simulation is not to judge you on your performance but rather to have you engage in critical thinking and self-reflection
You will need to create an account in order to play the simulation. The link below will bring you to the simulation:
