Write a research article that explains more about the four principles of transformational leadership.

Please think of your favorite leader (any leader, which may include leaders from the movies, your own boss or supervisor, corporate, for profit and non for profit, politics, public life, sports, science, even comic figures, etc. also possible, your boss, your leadership, etc.) and analyze his or her leadership using three different theories out of the theories covered in class. If you are lacking work experience or ideas, several leadership videos are posted to the leadership course module that you may use for inspiration.

As highlighted during the lecture, remember that theories are like different pairs of glasses, when you put them on, some may help you to “see more clearly” what is happening and identify the persons’ leadership, while others may not be a good fit (in that situation, or for the specific leader or manager, or for the observer). The format of the report is a project report, not an academic paper. That means that the emphasis should be on application of knowledge and material and there should be a clear message and takeaways. Imagine your are writing a report for your boss at work and with the intent of informing him or her about how to improve a persons’ leadership skills. If you are analyzing your own bosses leadership, you may want to address it to a different person, as your future boss at work.

Please use three of the theories covered in class, that is on the lecture slides or in the additional reading assignments. Please use three different leadership theories. Please use those three leadership theories that you feel describe best, what makes your favorite leader a truly great leader. Provide the reader with a headline or cover page and a short description who the leader is. Afterwards, you should structure your essay based on these sections:

Academic references: While this is not a primarily academic paper, we also recommend for you to reference academic sources and articles, to help build credibility and evidence your reporting. While this is primarily a project report it is supposed to be academically inspired.

Turnitin: We require all submissions to go through Turnitin for plagiarism control. Only assignments submitted in time can undergo plagiarism check via Turnitin. Any assignment that is plagiarized will receive “zero” points. Citations that are taken from primary literature need to be very clearly evidenced, such as APA or AML format.

Formatting: All Assignments need to be formatted in Times New Roman font size 12; 1.5 or double-spaced; And contain structural elements, such as: Headlines, sections and subsections; Break up content in paragraphs. Your goal should be to produce a high-quality project report, as if it were for your supervisor at work. If your report is not formatted properly, the boss may place it back on your desk, and you may need to re-submit it next semester. This is not an academic paper but “just” a project report style. With that said, be reminded that “a page is a page and not a paragraph” and “a sentence is a sentence and not a paragraph”. A paragraph should contain multiple sentences but not span across entire pages and more.

Note that points will also be subtracted if you are using improper font size or spacing; your essay is not making proper use of structural elements; lacking headlines; or lacking sections and paragraphs. An introduction and closing statement, such as key takeaway or lessons learned, are recommended. Treat it like you are submitting a project report at work. If your boss would not like it because it does not have professional appeal, I will likely see it similar.

Grading: The assignment is graded 30% on grammar and spelling and 70% on your ability to correctly apply leadership theories. Be aware and mindful that any assignment, or sentence, or paragraph, that we cannot read or understand we also cannot grade. Solid structure, or the lack thereof, likely has a visual component. Elements of structure usually enhance clarity and understanding.

Length & Structure: Your assignment should meet a minimum of three (3) pages (to meet minimum requirements) and shall not exceed five (5) pages, including cover page & excluding references. If you navigate on the lower end you will likely be lacking detail. Structuring elements, such as headlines and sub-headers, structuring paragraphs and introduction as well as closing statements are highly recommended. Further, a opening and closing paragraph, such as key takeaways or lessons learned, as well as solid references are highly recommended if they enhance understanding; and yes, they do count towards the page count. Again, points will be deducted if paragraphs spanning multiple pages and for once-sentence paragraphs (other than headlines).
