Write a research paper providing an explanation of the background of mass imprisonment in the US.Businesses all function differently in different markets. As such, it is difficult to realize if a company is being profitable or not. Yes, one could look at the income statement or balance sheet and discover if there is income. But is it enough income? Will the company be able to survive the competition? How are the competitors performing in the current economy? Is there new technology that will harm the company if they don’t keep up? In our first evaluation, you analyzed a company that did not keep up.
In the last half of the text, we studied many ways to analyze a company using formulas and common size financial statements. It’s time to put this knowledge into practice.
1. Pick a company/organization that has researchable financial data for at least 3 years.
2. Analyze the company using the measures discussed in the text: formulas, horizontal analysis, vertical analysis, etc. (Hint: check the analysis sections of the chapters.) Remember, analysis means nothing if you don’t compare it to something else. Give your values some context: compare your company to one in the same industry.
3. Make a decision: Is the company performing at it’s peak? Is it headed toward a difficult stretch based on the trends? Is the company going to survive, as far as the analysis shows? If you had the funds and the opportunity, would you invest in this company at this date in time? WIllingness to invest is a big idicator of corporate health.
4. Show all the data needed to sustain your argument.
